Conference Information
The board of the Society of Scholar Priests invites you to mark your calendars for this year’s conference, “Theology & the Parish,” to be held in Denver, Colorado at St. John’s Cathedral on June 9–10, 2022. While proposals addressing a variety of theological topics are welcome, the board especially solicits proposals addressing this year’s theme of the relationship of theology, doctrine and dogma, and theological education to all aspects of parish life, worship, identity, and leadership.
This year’s conference features special presentations by Dr. Jerome Berryman, the Godly Play Institute, and Dr. Tony Baker and Fr. Miles Brandon of St. Julian of Norwich Episcopal Church, Austin, TX. Dr. Berryman is the author and founder of Godly Play, a Montessori-inspired approach to children’s catechesis. Dr. Baker is the Clinton S. Quinn Professor of Systematic Theology at the Seminary of the Southwest, and is also Theologian in Residence at St. Julian of Norwich Church. Fr. Brandon is an Episcopal Priest and Vicar of St. Julian of Norwich Church, which he helped to plant.
Location
The conference is being held at St. John's Cathedral in Denver. You can find directions here.
Hotel Accommodations
There are a number of hotels within a mile of the Cathedral. We've reserved rooms for conference participants at the Hampton Inn and Suites ($179/night). For reservations, please call 303-864-8000 and ask for a reservation under "The Society of Scholar Priest Conference." Hotel occupancy (and, thus, rates) are a bit higher -- even for Denver -- during our conference dates because of a concurrent large convention downtown.
